Job Summary
Work Shift
1 - First Shift
The Senior Project Engineer leads a cross functional team through design, development and initial manufacture of new products.
This position works with team members to execute projects, develop skills, and improve processes and ensures the team actively communicates with product teams and support groups.
This role directs teams on how to meet product requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

1.
Lead by exhibiting the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
Supervise, organize, mentor and coach assigned team members in performance of their duties while influencing others to carry the Vermeer culture forward.
Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s strategies and objectives to drive key business results.
Use expertise to ensure department is serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.
2.
Meet customer performance and durability expectations for a product line.
Collaborate with product management to meet product requirements for a specific project.
3.
Complete project documentation as required by the Vermeer product development process.
4.
Ensure that project goals, such as test plans, production preparation plans, and product performance plans are met.
5.
Continually evaluate how to improve product and processes within the area and ensure that the team works efficiently to achieve goals.
6.
Promote a deeper understanding of team’s responsibilities associated with critical timeline projects including regular communication with related groups.
Education and/or Experience
- 4-year college degree with a major in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ related experience.
- Or other 2 or 4-year college degree with a minimum of 15 years’ related experience.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to demonstrate to team members, customers and dealers the product needs to better define the product.
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, cooling, and electrical systems.
- Understanding of equipment manufacturing process.
- Ability to effectively partner with a project manager to coordinate development activities to release successful products.
- Ability to contribute ideas and collaborate with others for machine improvements.
- Effective organization and project management skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with the team, peers, and internal/external customers.
- Demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration
Fundamental of Engineering Exam or PE preferred.
Travel
Up to 10% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
Work Location
ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus.
If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
