SUMMARY Set up and operate a computer numerically controlled (CNC) Horizontal Machining Center.
Responsible for setup and operation of products weighing 10,000 lbs.
or more.
These types of machines do not have an enclosure around the machine table or spindle.
Items produced on this machine are generally large weldments that require machining after welding and are quite often a unique structure requiring forethought into proper rigging, fixturing, and machining.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Read and interpret blueprints and work orders, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set-up requirements.
Select proper fixtures, tooling, accessories, and materials to be completed.
Build tooling and work-holding devices, with the ability to properly locate in the machine per setup documentation.
Setup will be a combination of dedicated fixturing and modular fixturing.
Use of probe macros to establish work offsets are required daily.
Edit and prove out new programs for product completion, adjusting as needed to ensure parts meet specifications.
Calculate, set, and monitor controls to produce quality parts in the most efficient manner.
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications utilizing measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gages, indicators, groove micrometers, and tape measures.
Confer with management, production personnel, quality personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Perform and document level 1 TPMs and level 2 TPMs, as required.
Work in a safe manner at all times, following all safety guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions, vibration and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Qualifications EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
2 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment operating CNC equipment and/or additional related education preferred.
Must have experience with Fanuc control and Renishaw probe.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively and cooperatively to customers, employees of organization, and in one-on-one situations with team members at various levels of the organization.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS Frequent use of overhead hoist, various rigging equipment, and working knowledge of proper rigging techniques required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals.
Possess a basic understanding of algebra and geometry concepts, applying them to work functions when necessary.
COMPUTER SKILLS Basic commands such as setting tabs, opening, closing files and simple formulas.
Prior experience with a computer is required.
AutoCad, Solid Works, Excel and Intuitive are used to complete the tasks of the job.
