Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) -EMERGENCY CARE

JOB SUMMARY: A skilled member of the health care team, the Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner) serves the Emergency department through evaluation and treatment of patients in collaboration with the physician regarding the provision of direct medical care.
Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, providing initial emergency care, ordering lab tests and x-rays, prescribing medications, providing patient education and counseling, forming diagnoses and administering treatment in accordance with protocols and established standards are care.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities: Completion of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited institution.
Licensure in the State of Iowa as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
Previous PA/NP emergency care experience practice preferred.
Understanding of the PA/NP scope of practice and ability to accept the limitations of his/her position within the PRHC organization.
BLS and ACLS certification or ability to obtain within 4 months of hire date.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Strong written skills, including excellent spelling, proofreading and English Composition skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in one on one as well as group settings Ability to demonstrate a great deal of empathy and understanding toward others.
Must demonstrate appropriate age-specific communication skills Technical skills associated with the position Strong computer knowledge.
Ability to work effectively with physicians and other members of the health care team Ability to advocate for patients effectively Ability to communicate with tact and professionalism.

Experience in indices and data collection.
Must demonstrate a high degree of skill in human relations and communication with the ability to deal constructively on a one-on-one basis with a wide variety of persons and personalities.
