Responsible for overseeing all aspects of conferences, events, and catering services at Central College.
This includes managing a team of professionals, coordinating event logistics, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to clients.
The Director will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
Team leadership responsibilities to train, supervise, schedule, and mentor employees while fostering a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.
Collaborate with clients to understand event expectations, including menu and space accommodations, for weddings, conferences, and camps while maintaining professionalism.
Collaborate with campus departments for planning major events including homecoming, graduation, and scholarship dinners.
Set up A/V equipment as necessary and ensure proper training for users.
Develop and manage budgets for conferences and catering services while identifying opportunities for cost control and revenue enhancement.
Ensure accurate pricing of all menu items.
Partner with vendors and suppliers to establish accurate inventory levels and favorable terms.
Establish and maintain business relationships within the Pella community to encourage use of Central's available services through networking opportunities.
Ensure compliance with all heath, safety, and sanitation requirements.
Prepare and present regular reports on performance metrics and financial results to senior management including insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred, in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field
Professional certification in event planning or hospitality management is a plus
Proven experience in conferences, catering, or event planning with a minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role
Strong leadership and management skills
Exceptional organizational and project management abilities
Strong communication skills
Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets effectively
Ability to perform with limited supervision
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
