POSITION:QA Laboratory Supervisor 1st Shift
DEPARTMENT:Quality Control
LOCATION:Ottumwa
SALARY CLASS:Exempt
Responsibilities:
Manage the JBS Iodine Value Sampling Protocol thru the sample collection in all 5 JBS facilities, sample shipment, analysis, and results reporting.
Plan, manage, and supervise the activities of a centralized laboratory & perform standard biological, microbiological, & chemical tests relative to food safety to assure their delivery in an accurate & timely fashion using proper safety precautions.
Coordinate, report, and investigate product shelf life in all stages of production from brine preparation, process controls, and end user.
Prepare and supervise preparation of reagents, media, & solutions necessary for the performance of all laboratory tests.
Test or trial new & improved laboratory methods & procedures.
Prepare laboratory notes, reports, charts & graphs.
Responsible for maintaining lab inventory, ordering all equipment & supplies.
Create and update all Standard Operating Procedures for lab.
Evaluate lab staff performance.
Qualifications:
Excel, Word, & Power Point
Be able to communicate written and verbally in English
Be able to work all shifts as needed
Previous experience with food safety (meat industry) & microbial/chemical testing
Education Requirements (if applicable)
Bachelor degree in microbiology with some chemistry background or 3-5 year experience supervising a food testing lab
